songdrafts vs Evernote: what each one does
Evernote is a long-standing home for notes, and plenty of songwriters keep lyric ideas and audio attachments in it. It is a note app first. Here is what each one does.
| Evernote | songdrafts | |
|---|---|---|
| Capture an idea | A note, with an audio attachment if you add one | Keep recording in Voice Memos, then bring the memos in |
| Sort ideas into songs | Notebooks and tags | A board of songs by stage |
| Every take of a song together | Attachments in one note, if you keep it tidy | Takes stack on one card, oldest first |
| Play through ideas fast | Open each note | Press play on any card, or a whole column |
| Share a demo for feedback | Share a note | One link that plays in the browser, with comments pinned to the second |
| Made for | Notes of every kind | Songwriters with a pile of voice memos |
| Price | Free or part of a plan | See pricing. 30-day money back on yearly |
Is songdrafts a note-taking app?
No. It is a board for songs: the recordings, the lyrics, key and tempo, and the stage each song is at.
Can I move my ideas over from Evernote?
Save the audio attachments, then drag them onto the songdrafts board. Paste lyrics onto the song they belong to.
Want this done for you? songdrafts is a board for your voice memos: every take stacked on one card, songs that move across stages, merging half songs, and one share link with comments pinned to the second. Works offline, and nothing you upload trains AI. What is songdrafts?
